ASSEMBLING THE QUILT TOP

FIRST RING OF STRIPS

With right sides together and using a ¼" (6 mm) seam allowance for all seams, sew one strip 1½" × 9½" (3.7 cm × 24.2 cm) to each long side of the center rectangle as shown in the diagram. Press. Then sew one strip 1½" × 6½" (3.7 cm × 16.2 cm) to the top of the quilt top and one to the bottom. Press. After completing each ring of strips always make sure the corners of the quilt top are perfect right angles. If this is not done, the top will lose its square corners as it grows outward.
